Racing Dog Retirement Project Needs Your Help!

Greyhound Emergency Help Needed!

URGENT!!

MARCH 3, 2017—RACING DOG RETIREMENT PROJECT (RDRP) received a very disturbing phone call from a local vet office this week. The vet’s office had a beautiful greyhound with a severely broken leg that someone had dropped off and told them to euthanize. The vet’s office was trying to locate a greyhound rescue group who could take responsibility for the dog. After several questions, we determined the greyhound was not an RDRP dog but rather a track dog from SRQ.  Apparently the dog arrived at the SRQ track on Sunday and suffered the broken leg this morning.

TheBradyFund-RDRP-smRDRP contacted Dr. Kirsch and the Emergency Veterinary Clinic to see if they could help. The trainer transported the dog, whose name is Brady, to the EVC where he was admitted for treatment. Dr. Kirsch agreed to do surgery, hopefully today but advised it was a bad break and the dog may lose the leg eventually. He advised doing the surgery and was encouraging. While the EVC is giving RDRP a 20%  “rescue discount” on all services, it is still very, very expensive and may be in excess of $4000. Please send any contribution you can to help sweet Brady.

You may send your much appreciated donation mailing your check made payable to “RDRP” to  Racing Dog Retirement Project, PO Box 18153, Sarasota FL 34276.  Please note the words “Brady’s Fund” on your check.

Even the smallest donation will help! Brady has a very long road to recovery before he can be adopted to his forever home. This poor fella really needs everyone who can to help him out. For more information about Brady and The Brady Fund, visit www.RDRP.org.

Donte’s Den 1st Annual Tennis Ball Splash

Sunday, March 5, 2017 – 12 noon to 4 p.m.

ddsplash-EventBanner-01

Imagine making a “lucky” $13 donation to a community animal organization for a chance to win a cash prize of $3,000 or more!

It can happen to you by participating in the 1st Annual Donte’s Den Tennis Ball Splash!

From now until the beginning of March, tennis balls can be purchased for $13 each by clicking here. The event, which is hosted by Suncoast Pet and PetLoversMarket.com, is a fund-raiser for Donte’s Den, a “Community of Joyful Dogs,” located in Myakka City.

The goal of the event planners is to sell 1,200 tennis balls. If that goal is met the third-place winner will take home $1,500, the second-place winner will receive $2,300 and the grand prize winner will walk away with $3,900!!

Here is how it works: On Sunday, March 5, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., there will be a spectacular party held at Donte’s Den, located at 6801 283rd Street East in Myakka City. In addition to tours of this magnificent facility, there will be live music, dog adoptions at Donte’s Den’s Joyful Dogs Adoption Center, food and beverages, pet vendors and a 50/50 drawing.

The highlight of the event will be when dogs dive into the Donte’s Den bone-shaped swimming pool to choose the winning tennis balls!

All of the tennis balls, which will be hand numbered with a permanent market, will be thrown into the swimming pool, about 100 balls at a time. A dog will then dive into the pool to retrieve one ball. The next group of balls will be thrown into the pool, and another dog will retrieve just one ball.

The winning ball from each group of tennis balls will then be thrown into the pool and three balls will be retrieved to determine the first-, second- and third-place winners.

Fifty percent of the proceeds from the tennis ball sales will benefit Donte’s Den Foundation. The remaining funds will be divided between the top three winners.

Take a chance to win BIG money for a good cause by making your donation and buying a tennis ball by clicking here!

A Special Offer for Suncoast Pet Readers

my-dog-nose-it-logoIn the May/June issue of Suncoast Pet, which is posted online at www.SuncoastPet.com/suncoast-pet-online/, you’ll find a very important product for your pups featured in “New & Noseworthy,” which can be found on pages 44 and 45.

The products, called “My Dog Nose It!”, offers sun protection for your dog’s nose!

In recent years, there has been more and more evidence that dogs can not only suffer from sunburn like their human companions, but they also are at risk of developing skin cancer, too!

My Dog Nose It! is completely safe for pets, and it’s all natural and vegan, too! Not only will it protect your dog’s nose, ears and other sun-sensitive body parts from the sun, but the non-toxic balm is moisture rich, so it will soothe and heal, too!

Just for Suncoast Pet readers: Purchase My Dog Nose It! online at www.mydognoseit.com, and you will receive 25% off your purchase by entering the code “pet25” at checkout!
